"BASKET CASES" MYSTERY QUILTS

Throughout the year "Basket Cases" members do a mystery quilt and by our Christmas meeting they should be completed. Unfortunately Bev broke her wrist and several others had extended holidays.
Deborah has the red, black and white also made a cushion cover with the left overs. Sue with the autumn tones and Gwen with the Monet. They are all the same pattern but colouring certainly makes a difference as with Pat's (brown)  Lee's (green) and Heather's red and black.

FABRIC PANEL UPDATE

Now that the Quilt Fair season has finished, we have been able to bring our pallet stock back to the shop, in particular all of our fat quarters and fabric panels. The panels have been sorted and we have been able to update the PANELS Set on our photo/web site, so check it out by clicking the links on this page (incl. the shop photo). There is a large and varied collection, including the super popular Dragon panel pictured here. You will also see one of the latest quilt kits, Hickory House - keep checking our sites as we expect to have more stock of one of our most popular kits available before Christmas!

QUILTS FOR SALE!

I have been looking through my former display quilts, and can't believe how many I've made over the years - too many to keep hidden away, so I will be increasing the number out on sale at the shop. Do come and have a look, if you don't see something that catches your eye, just ask and we might be able to find one. Might make a great Christmas present for someone you love, or just for yourself?
This bright, colourful one is the recent 'Rainbow Garden', if you click on the photos/website link, you'll see more in the 'QUILTS' set.
Cheers,
Dianne

Autumn Rain

I have finally finished! (put on the back burner for awhile), you may recall the weaving I was doing back at the start of the year. I called it Autumn Rain and have it as a kit and it will get it's first showing at the Syndey Craft and quilt Fair next week 13th to the 17th of June. The stand number is A28 so come and have a look if you are near Darling Harbour.

AQC

Managed to find this shot of my stand at the recent Australasian Quilt Convention. The venue is the impressive Royal Exhibition Centre at Carlton in Melbourne, featured in the current Masterchef series.

In class

Some ladies are doing dresden plate quilts and the blocks are starting to look fantastic.

This is Deborah who is using a layer cake for her blocks and 16 blades.

While Bev is using 20 blades in hers with set fabrics. Both are sewing it totally by machine.

Moonlight at the Oasis

After being away for 3 weeks with shows in Sydney and Brisbane and also teaching at Batemans Bay inbetween, it was great to get back to a project that had been going on for some time and finally finishing it. The pattern always takes a lot longer than you think to do and get right. I came within an inch of getting someone else to quilt it but ended up doing it myself and am very pleased with the finished product.
It is just in time for AQC in Melbourne next week, I will be on stand number 130 which is my usual spot under the dome.

Zonta Exhibition and friend

Have had a great couple of days at the Zonta Exhibition with wonderful country hospitality. Supplied with unlimited cups of tea or coffee lovely home cooked cakes and lunch.
This particular exhibition has not only quilts but all sorts of needlework including the most exquisite petit point, cross stitch, tapestry, laces and embroidery

Turning into my street after setting up for the show, saw this little fellow walk over the road and got the camera before he completely hid himself in the tiny creek. A bit unusual in down town Victor Harbor although we do get rabbits, snakes and the odd kangaroo

Newbie

This is all very new to me so hopefully you will enjoy my rantings.
Last year I was very busy with the Shows around the countryside and this year will be about the same, the last was in Adelaide at the beginning of November. A break now until March 2012 which will see me being away for 3 weeks but more about that later.
I love to design my own patterns but time does not always allow for this to happen, so then I will find a pattern to make up for a kit. This one is called Town Square it has now been quilted and I will put the binding on today.
